Data & Information Law Specialist Joins St John’s Buildings

Aaminah Khan a Data and Information Law Specialist has been welcomed to St John’s Building Chambers.

Aaminah was called to the Bar in 2001 and spent six years developing her common law practice before moving to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), to specialise in Information Law.

It was during her time at the ICO that she practiced as the lead in-house prosecutor, gaining cast experience advising on high-profile cases, including Operation Cederberg, the investigation into data misuse in political campaigns involving Cambridge Analytica and Facebook.

Aaminah said:

Aaminah advises on data protection and GDPR compliance, with a particular interest in the overlap between cyber crime and other offences. She is also an expert in reporting security incidents and handling claims for compensation that can arise from data protection breaches.

Aaminah is a member of ARDL (Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers), the Criminal Bar Association, and sits as a Legally Qualified Chair for MPTS (Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service) and is a legal advisor to the Optical Council fitness to practise panel.

Jennifer van Deursen

Jen is the Senior Media Officer for Today’s Conveyancer, Today’s Wills & Probate  and Today’s Family Lawyer.

Having gained a degree in Multimedia Computing, Jen fell into a content role after successfully applying for a job at Cheshire Police. During her 6-year service, she took on the role as personal Press Officer under the first Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire and worked in the busy press office for the force.

Jen has experience in the marketing and communication sphere, which stems from her time in the public sector, private care sector and now here at the Practical Vision Network, where she can utilise her skills and challenge herself further.
