Senior Circuit Judge retired

His Honour Judge Keith Cutler CBE retires as a Senior Circuit Judge with effect from 15 February 2021.

Background information

His Honour Judge Cutler CBE (70) was called to the Bar (L) in 1972 and was elected a Bencher in 2005. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1989, Recorder in 1993, Circuit Judge in 1996, a Judicial Member of the Parole Board from 2001 to 2004 and the Resident Judge for Salisbury from 2003. He was Deputy Chancellor for the Diocese of Portsmouth from 2003 to 2013 and a Member of the Judges Council from 2005 to 2009. He was the Honorary Recorder of Salisbury from 2007 to 2010 and of Winchester since 2009. He was appointed a Senior Circuit Judge in 2009 and appointed CBE for services for the Administration of Justice in 2010. He was appointed President of the Council of Her Majesty’s Circuit Judges in 2012 (Assistant Secretary from 2003 to 2004, Honorary Secretary from 2005 to 2009, Junior Vice-President in 2010 and Senior Vice-President in 2011). He was the Assistant Deputy Coroner for the Inquest into the death of Mark Duggan from 2013 to 2014 and became an Honorary Doctor of Law (Winchester) in 2019.
